アメリカの2008年9月から2009年9月の12ヶ月の雇用状況の話だが、
この間に、無職の人口が600万人増加した。
ここですごいのは、5700万の職が失われ、
5100万の新たな雇用が発生した結果が600万人であるということ。
すさまじい再雇用の勢いであり、
どうりでクビになった友人たちはわりと能天気なわけだ。
たった12ヶ月の間に、
9人が仕事を失いそのうち8人が仕事を見つけるというプロセスを
600万回繰り返してこうなったということ。

日本政府がつぶれかけの大型業界の雇用を守るために
補助金を投入し延命措置を行い、
銀行がやらせることの無いバブル世代の高給取りを守り、
労働組合が半死状態の航空会社にトドメをさし、
解雇された人が
「私は前と同じ業界じゃなきゃ働かない介護の仕事なんてしたくない」と言い、
「派遣村」に押し寄せた人々が職を探す時間を惜しんでキレている間に、
アメリカでは僕達の目の前で今もすさまじい勢いで
雇用能力・競争力のある会社や産業に労働力がシフトしている。
長期的にはこの新陳代謝の高さが
アメリカの回復力に大きく影響するだろう。

こういう違いを目の当たりにして生活していると、
日本もそろそろドロドロになった血液をなんとかしないと
ポックリいってしまうのではと心配になります。
